Learn about Zorbtive

more of what I need comes from the food I eat
“I like the idea that more of what I need comes from the food I eat.”

Zorbtive® [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection] is the first and only drug treatment approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of people with Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) who are receiving specialized nutritional support.

Zorbtive is growth hormone similar to the growth hormone produced by the pituitary gland in your body.

Zorbtive is for people with SBS who rely on a special diet which may include parenteral nutrition (PN).

Zorbtive potentially helps people whose shortened or damaged small intestine can no longer absorb enough fluids and nutrients from a “regular” oral diet.

Zorbtive may be prescribed by your doctor if:

  • you have been diagnosed with Short Bowel Syndrome, and
  • you are stable on a special oral diet.
