Zorbtive® [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection] was given to people with SBS in a study conducted by doctors and dietitians experienced with Short Bowel Syndrome.

About the study...
Forty-one people were treated
Their average length of remaining small intestine was 2.4 feet
They had been using parenteral nutrition (PN) for several years
They received PN between five and six days per week
All people in the study were placed on a special high-carb, low-fat diet at least two weeks before Zorbtive treatment


Each person was assigned to one of the treatment groups below and received 28 days of treatment. (Note: Treatment for more than 28 days has not been adequately studied.)


Treatment groups...
Group One:  people treated with glutamine* by itself
Group Two:  people treated with Zorbtive by itself
Group Three:  people treated with both Zorbtive and glutamine

* Glutamine is an amino acid your body naturally produces.
