(rDNA origin) for injection] and a special oral diet including glutamine, the results are summarized below.
You and your doctor should decide if Zorbtive treatment is right for you.
Common side effects for people in the study included fluid retention (swelling) and muscle and joint pain. Zorbtive treatment was discontinued for several days with some people, due to pain and swelling. Treatment was restarted at one-half dose, with no further problems reported. People in the study also reported nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and gas, which may have been caused by SBS or by Zorbtive treatment.

Zorbtive® [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection] is indicated for the treatment of Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) in patients receiving specialized nutritional support. Optimal management of SBS may include dietary adjustments, enteral feedings, parenteral nutrition, and fluid and micronutrient supplements, as needed. Some common side effects of Zorbtive treatment include muscle and joint pain, and fluid retention (swelling). Zorbtive may also cause serious side effects such as inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), diabetes or Do not take Zorbtive if you have any of the following serious medical conditions: open-heart surgery; stomach-area (abdominal) surgery; an accident; breathing problems (respiratory failure); cancer; or, allergy to Zorbtive or other growth hormone medications.
